I love to eat all manner of frozen fruit. The regulars consist of frozen banana, raspberries, grapes, blueberries and cherries. It’s something I’ve done for ages, I love to make smoothies in the morning using frozen fruit and I like to nibble on frozen fruit as a healthy snack, it often hits the spot with my sweet tooth without adding the extra calorie punch of ice-cream. That pretty much has been the way I use my frozen fruit, until last Christmas.
Last Christmas I received a Yonanas as a gift and now I have a new interesting way to use my frozen fruit. Since then Yonanas Raspberry Banana Ice Cream is a staple in my kitchen. I’ve experimented a bit, like banana and Oreo cookie ice-cream. I have to say that was freaking awesome too. I’ve used just bananas, just raspberries, but I really like using both at the same time.
Is it good?
Oh Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Really good!
I’m always surprised at how much you get from just a couple frozen bananas and a handful of frozen raspberries. I find the texture really amazing, it has the mouth feel of regular ice-cream and the frozen fruit packs a real flavour punch. I still go back to Yonanas Raspberry Banana Ice Cream as my main squeeze. I love the two together, for me it just works.
The Yonanas is super easy to use, plug it in, turn it on and start dropping your frozen fruit down the chute and out comes soft serve bliss. Seriously. It’s good.
When I’m mixing banana with raspberries, I usually drop my first banana in, push the plunger down and wait for my banana ice-cream to come out the other end, then its a handful of frozen raspberries, followed by my second frozen banana, in mere seconds I have a bowl of YUM!
When I’m done making the soft serve, I give it a good stir to mix the two frozen treats together and with very little effort I end up with a bowl of Yum!
Really Yummmmmm.
My Yonanas may qualify as one of the best kitchen gadgets I’ve ever had. If I could ever get off my thing for Yonanas Raspberry Banana Ice Cream, I might try experimenting more with other fruit and additions. The banana Oreo Ice-cream was ridiculously good. It’s a nice addition once in a while. But I really love the straight fruit combos, there is something really satisfying about something that tastes that good and is good for you.
I’m crazy for pistachios. That is totally going on the Yonanas to-do experiment list.
So when mixing other fruits or ingredients in with your bananas does your soft serve still taste like banana?
Yup.
Crazy good banana.
I suppose if you don’t like banana that’s not a plus, but I love bananas, whether fresh or frozen, it still makes me go WOW when I make soft serve ice-cream using them.
Clean up is super easy, it’s just a matter of detaching the grinding unit and rinsing off a few parts and you’re all done in the clean up department.
