Cucumber Water

September 15, 2014 by Claire

Cucumber Water

I first had cucumber water at a wonderful Thai restaurant called Chada Thai Fine Cuisine in Coquitlam, BC. You can check them out at www.chadathai.ca. They are open every day and are found at 107-2991 Lougheed Hwy, Coquitlam, BC.

Once seated the first thing that was brought to our table with our menus was what appeared to be a simple bottle of water. It was on first sip that I realized there was something a little different, it had a very mild barely noticeable hint of cucumber to it.

I wasn’t sure, so I took another sip and sure enough I tasted cucumber, it was very subtle but definitely there and it was delicious! That was the first time I’ve sampled cucumber water and I made a mental note then and there that I would give it  a try in my own kitchen. It went so perfectly with the delicious Thai food that we sampled.

I love cucumber. Love. Cucumber water is my new love.

I prefer English cucumbers and small pickling cucumbers, for me the taste and texture of these is the best. Recently a co-worker of mine presented me with a cucumber from her home garden. I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to experiment with my own cucumber water. She grows her produce without chemicals or pesticides so I knew it would be a good cucumber to use to make my first batch of cucumber water.

Turns out, cucumber water is super simple to make.

Water.

Cucumber.

Mix.

Steep.

Cucumber water.

Super  easy huh 😀

There really is no need to put it up as a recipe. It’s super simple. All you need is a quantity of water of your choice, a cucumber and container for your water and about an hour to allow the cucumber to steep.  That’s it.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Err. Easy peasy cucumber squeezy!

Hmmmm. Cucumber Squeezies. That might be interesting…

Have a great day!

I love cucumber water. They serve it at this little organic market where I teach.

It is one of my new favs for sure. I’m surprised I’ve never had it before, it was utterly lovely and went perfectly with the Thai meal. I love discovering new things 🙂
